10th Middle East Orthopaedic Conference focus on hip and pelvis

Arab Health Day 2

Dr. William D. Murrell, Chairman of the 10th Middle-East Orthopaedic Conference opened  Day 2 of the Arab Health Conference.  The session started with a topic on Pediatric and Adolescent Hip which was moderated by Professor Alvin Crawford. To start off, Professor Shah Alam Khan did a lecture on Pediatric Hip Arthroscopy, followed by Professor Alvin Crawford’s lecture on CDH and management. Then Dr. Shital Parikh finished the session with a lecture on Management of the Adolescent Hip.

This was followed by a session on Minimally Invasive Hip led by Dr. Adam Anz from the Andrews Institute, Florida, USA who talked about Biologics in hip and a another topic on Femoral acetabular impingement, this was  followed by Professor Hatem Galal Said’s lecture on Hip Arthroscopy-The Setup, and Hip labral repair. The morning session was closed with a talk on Hip Arthroscopy Rehabilitation by Mr. Anuj Punnoose, a senior Physiotherapist and Clinical Specialist, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Cambridge, UK.

Technology and Innovation was the opening topic for the afternoon session, Moderated by Professor Alvin Crawford together with Dr Shah Alam Khan. Lecture on Leverage technology-it is your friend was given by Dr. Jonathan Schaffer, Managing Director, Cleveland Clinic, and Information Technology Division, Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA. Followed by Dr. J. Michael Henderson, Chief Quality Officer, Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA, giving a lecture on Quality and safety play a role in innovating new models of care.

Session on Hip and Pelvis Trauma was led by Dr. Hatem Galal Said together with Dr. Chris Whately, followed by lectures from Dr. Khaleed Fareed, Dr. Humeira Badsha, Professor Ravi Mittal, Dr. Madhat Khafajy, Dr. Usama Hassan, and Dr. Zenet Khired.

The final session was focused on Adult Hip Reconstruction with lectures given by Dr. Chris Whately, Dr. Anil Arora, and Professor Ayman Ebied.

And just like Day 1, All sessions were followed with robust Q & A, and just the right amount of controversial topics.
